I'm a Twenty something strapping young male who would probably kill at this point for a good Dnd or Pathfinder campaign. Seriously do you know how difficult it is to find enough willing, sane, nerds who you would actually want to spend that much time with?

Not easy.

So Here I am trying to solve that problem.

Welcome! Sometimes at Recess players will run a good DnD or Pathfinder one shot, and of course you can also sign up for the next GGG (Gotham Gamers Guild) which is campaign based!

Now, as for the sane part.... :ninja1:

Hi I'm Irven,
I live in south Jersey but my job is going to require me to go into the city once or twice a week. I've heard great things about NerdNYC (a friend Ajit George raved about it) and I ran into John Stavropoulos at this past Metatopia. If John is any kind of representation of the kind of people I'll meet at NerdNYC then I am stoked and hoping I can make the trip over to see the digs and hopefully become a semi-regular face there.

I'm a fan of all things geeky, I grew up with D&D, I dabble in table top wargames, CCGs, boardgames, PC games and all that goodness. I've recently caught the Indy RPG bug and have been trying to make my way through all of them, I fully intend to bribe John into running a Dogs in the Vineyard game for me someday. I prefer to GM but I'll play'em anyway I can.

I've met a ton of cool people at cons and I saw a bunch of familiar faces in the gallery pics on your site so I'm confident I'll fit in!

Hope to see you soon!

I think you'll have to get in line for that!

I'm Sean.
I'm terrible at forums, but I've been gaming in NYC since forever. I've been gaming for 20 years now. I started with the old TMNT system (weirdly) and played everything else as it came- RIFTs, Cyberpunk 2020, Werewolf, etc. Somehow I managed to not cut my teeth on D&D, but I'm competent with it now. I started freelancing in the mid nineties, and did some books for White Wolf and articles for InQuest and SJG back in the day. I started my own company soon after, and did a couple indie releases around 1999- 2001 before going to film school.
Since then I've been everywhere and done everything- film (I am Legend, Arcadian), TV (Showtime and Nickelodeon projects), and video games (get Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters on DS!). But I always come back to my first love, tabletop RPGs. Case in point:I recently pitched in with a Local LARP called Dystopia Rising to help create and launch a tabletop book based in their post-pocalyptic setting. Now we're running it wherever we can, and branching out with new systems and new ideas. I can't help it. I just love games.

Hallo, New York! Please may I come in?

I'm moving to NYC in a couple of months and just googled "nerds nyc" on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I seem to be a bit prone to whims actually, I'm moving to this giant city with no job, no friends and no place to live, for no particular reason other than I figured if I'm going to leave my comfortable little life in my parents' house in the middle of the woods I may as well have an adventure while I'm at it. So I'm coming to find out if NYC really is the greatest city in the world. I'm really excited!

I'd love to get to know people here and hopefully come to some get-togethers when I move. I'm not much of a gamer but that's more due to a lack of opportunity than a lack of interest. I played in one D&D campaign when I was sixteen or seventeen (more than a decade ago) but I can't even remember what edition it was, all I know is that it was a lot of fun. I do like board games, some video games (Final Fantasy, Shadow of the Colossus), and a number of sci-fi shows (I insist that if shows like Star Trek and Doctor Who can make great comebacks in the forms of TNG and New Who, so too will Firefly some day). I also like anime (guess my favorite) and old fantasy movies like Labyrinth and Ladyhawke.

I'm more of a book nerd than anything else though. I love fantasy novels and am about to start on book four of A Song of Ice and Fire. I've been writing fantasy stories since before I could read (figure that one out) and one of these days I may even finish one. I also like philosophy and if I could only bring one book to a desert island my Portable Enlightenment Reader would get very serious consideration.

I guess that's all for now, so it's back to exploring the forums! I look forward to chatting with everybody!

Hello, Nerds!
I attended my first Recess this past weekend and had a great time painting miniatures and Carcasonning and figuring out what the heck you're supposed to do in an RPG if some goo-covered halfing is clawing at your warrior's face. My son was there, too, if you want to know who spawned the little Cuss Cop who felt quite at home with everyone. (Blame it on Dorje, he contributed to the boy's DNA pool)

We even drew the lucky number for the 20-Sided Store gift certificate! Huzzah!
