New York City Board Game Designers Playtest Group

Hm... I'm dusting off my design again, but it's unlikely I can make it this Saturday. I'll keep it in mind.

If you sign up at the group home page, you can get emails about the July meeting. Because the first Saturday is Independence Day, it is likely that it will be postponed. I will try to give warning in this thread, but I don't check here too often any more because the site traffic seems way down.

The next meeting is Saturday, May 2, location to come shortly. We will have in attendance Matt Nuccio, who is the chairman of the Toy Industry Association, and a game packager who frequently works with all of the major game publishers. I will have my new card game Laundromat and hopefully a revision of Hybrid Dungeon.

I am planning a conference for a game designing playtest group in a couple months and I am wondering if you know of any Hotels New York City that have a large enough ball room where I might host an event for around 100 game designers to meet for a conference. Are there any specific Hotels NYC that you have used before for conferences that might work? Any information would be great!

It depends on how big the conference is likely to be. Most hotels can handle 4-8 tables.

You should check out the conference happening this weekend (starting tonight) in Morristown, NJ, Metatopia:

It's in Morristown, because you have to get further away from New York before you get hotels with affordable conference facilities. The conference is brand new, but hosted by an established event company, so you might have some competition from them and the Game Center at NYU, who just finished a conference as well that is also new, called Practice:
