Okay, this is my fault. Mea culpa, etc, etc.
Last November, I was negotiating with ThinkCoffee to reserve our monthly space for boardgame night, which they have always been very cool about. However, I made a small typo in my communication with them, which no one noticed.
The effect was that I believed we had scheduled Sept. 9th, but ThinkCoffee believed we had scheduled Sept. 16th (next week). ThinkCoffee, had also helpfully advertised the Sept 16th date on their Web site, even as we were advertising Sept. 9th on ours.
Now, I just realized this mistake late last night (thanks to an alert board member!) I've sent messages to the ThinkCoffee staff informing them of the error.
So what are we going to do? This was the solution I proposed to ThinkCoffee:
1) We go ahead with the Sept. 9th date (tonight). ThinkCoffee was not advertising any other event this evening, so I doubt they will have a problem with this.
2) In addition, we have a SECOND Ultra-Special Bonus Boardgame Night next week, on Sept. 16th. That way, anyone who was planning to attend then still can, as well as everyone else.
Now, I fully believe that ThinkCoffee will have no problem with this solution. However, I haven't heard back from them as of yet, and I didn't want to delay in telling everyone what was going on. So I will be heading down there early tonight, and I will make sure the staff knows what we're doing. Assuming they're okay with it (a pretty good assumption, I feel), we will be playing tonight. If they aren't, I will stick around a while to let people know, and I will put up some signs as well.
I'll post as I know more information.
