New codex is out. My Witch Hunters are now obsolete and strange.

The Grey Knights took one of my special characters and obsoleted/changed a lot of rules with respect to inquisitors. Same thing with assassins. Yet I'm still going to have to use the old rules until the codex is updated. There's also weirdness with the background, at least from what folks are saying about it.

As I'm reading the Grey Knight codex, I can't help but think back to being 12 years old and loving on the fluff. Like this is the epitome of a GW wank-manual! God-like men walking the universe smiting demons with their enormous coc- I mean Nemesis Force weapons.

It's a good codex though! Nothing stands out as being overly powerful and the amount of viable options might make the best SM codex since the Blood Angels (or the Space Wolves before that)! It's solid and makes my poor Crimson Fists slightly weaker in comparison (my favorite? Terminators as troops...that cost the same as Elite termies in any other army! Also, terminators with grenades! WTF? Grenades!). Squads are comparable in cost, so I don't know that GW is completely correct in their "smaller elite" army when a squad of 10 Grey Knights costs only a few points more than a squad of Crimson Fists (and that doesn't include all the crazy abilities that GKs have).

I don't like all the crazy powers that require wacky tests like Initiative and Strength and what have you. More complicated dice rolling in a game that already requires an absurd amount of rolling. Plus any test that requires Initiative or Strength only serves to further humiliate my poor 4th edition codex Tau!

The models are sexy though (except for the Dreadknight...that model looks absurd) and the bits are very very VERY desirable. I wants them badly, but I've been good and have only picked up the codex (so far). Got too many models that need assembly already, no sense adding more. But obsessive hobbies have nothing to do with sense...so what's a couple of boxes more? Eh??? EHHHH???

Also, it occurs to me that if you even wanted to run a Tzeechchchehchh chaos marine army, this might be the codex to use as every squad has psychic powers. Proxy demons as your special characters and you've got a mean army serving chaos!

Yeah, but guy in giant suit of powered armour fighting demons one-on-one is so AWESOME(TM) that I totally want a scratch-built one of these made out of titan and dreadnought parts.
