Gonna send in my computer to be serviced

Yeap, you're on it. Gibson had it all wrong.

My particular model of Samsung netbook has a problem with the ribbon cable that connects to the monitor so I'm going to get it serviced (I've passed the warranty date but I'm hoping they extend it because this is a known issue). Anyway, I'm going to have to send it in to be fixed. I've backed up my files and I've deleted any porn and MP3s I don't want to share (no one needs to hear my singing Girlfriend in a Coma).

Now I have two questions that I'd love your opinions about.
1. Do you think it's a good idea just to delete all of my documents or am I being paranoid to think so? I have them backed up (on two different drives). Mainly I have non-embarrassing personal photos and some old papers. Nothing groundbreaking or all that interesting.

2. Is there anything you think I might be missing that would help protect me from identity theft? Like password files or something? I'm not super tech savvy so I'm worried I'm missing something obvious.

Can you just pull the hard drive and send it in without?

I know it sounds weird but when I sent in my xbox 360, they said I should send it in without the drive I know you're dealing with samsung and not MS, so maybe you can call them and make sure its ok, and wont void the warranty or anything.

All your browser history/profile stuff.
I don't mind being played as long as [Megan Fox] keeps saying stuff like "I'll get naked and do a robot to sell movie tickets" cause that's the kind of future I want to live in. -cawshis

Unless your willing to go the extra mile and buy a program to wipe the deleted files on your drive, deleting isn't going to do much to someone interested in pulling your files of the drive.

I don't know if this works, but you can try running your defragmenter after deleting. Might overwrite some of the deleted files. Again, I don't know if this works :(.
