This is the thread for Herzwesten's GGG: Phoenix Edition game!

Hello players!

I have been busy reading and familiarizing myself with the Leverage RPG book, as well as watching the occasional episode to get ready for Mar. 25!

First of all, let me ask the question: is anyone in this game NOT familiar with the show? If so, I'll have to explain the differences between the game's five "classes": grifter, hacker, hitter, mastermind, and thief. If everyone is familiar, then you know exactly what I was referring to in that last sentence.

We will do character creation at the first session, as it is a group effort. But feel free to talk about what you'd like to play so we can hit the ground running on the 25th.

Oh, and you'll need at least one (bring two to be safe) of each size of die except for the ol' d20.

Any questions?

I am not familiar with this particular show, but I'm familiar with the genre (I'm assuming that Burn Notice and White Collar are in the same category).

I was considering a forger/thief, but I'm open to suggestions.

Really looking forward to this!

And I haven't really seen Burn Notice or White Collar, but from the commercials, I'd have to say that yes, the shows are similar enough that you'll probably be fine.

That being said, let's have some definitions!

GRIFTER: The consummate con artist, the grifter relies on empathy to deceit to fool the mark.
HACKER: The hacker's main weapon is information, whether it be through scoring data (like a password) or through objects (like a radio jammer).
HITTER: Hitters deal in direct application of force. Usually punches. You need a hitter when a con goes wrong and threats pop out of the woodwork.
MASTERMIND: The brains of the operation, the mastermind makes all the plans and can see the big picture.
THIEF: Breaking into places (and pockets!), the thief's main concern is access.

So when you make your character, you are going to pick a primary role and a secondary role (from above).

For instance, Pillar's possible forger character would probably be a HACKER/THIEF.

There's a lot more to character creation that than, but its a good place to start...

Excited! ::quiver::

I watched an episode last night on the TNT page. Looks like fun to play. Is there a mechanic for retroactive actions? Like as play is proceeding, you can declare that you had already emptied the bullets from the gun the bad guy took from you and just tried to shoot you with, because you knew he was going to do that?

It all looks good, but I do like pretending to hit people ... maybe Hitter/mastermind? Do we want all roles covered like in D&D 4E?

It certainly won't hurt you to cover all the roles, but it isn't necessary. However, it's best to do so mainly for spotlight purposes. Each player gets to really shine at the one thing they are good at at least once per session.

I watched a bunch of Leverage a couple months ago when I was home sick with the flu. It looks like they have fun doing the show. And it should be a lot of fun to play.

I'm not exactly sure what I want to play. Maybe a Hacker/Grifter.

I know you could play an awesome Mastermind.
I mean, you let a gigantic interdimensional alien horror loose to ravage the earth and kill millions of people just one time, and no one lets you forget it.

I've never watched the show or played this game, but just from having Hacker as a class option, I'm intrigued. Definitely looking forward to this, especially if I can work out a Hacker/Something character.
