I think I've posted about this before but a shitload of years ago I ordered a Sirius radio for Ayla as a present and got a year or service. It was pretty good when the reception was good but we didn't really use it so I canceled the service after the year. I've had the receiver sitting in a box and a few months ago I was going to try to unload it on Ebay so I hooked it up to see if it still powered up. To my surprise I was able to get reception and the service worked 100%! I called the company to make sure they weren't still billing me and they weren't.
I did some googling at the time but couldn't find out why this was happening. I checked again today and if some audio forums can be trusted it seems that once you're signed up it's not a passive operation to shut you off. Instead Sirius-XM sends a signal to your receiver to not work. For some reason they'll stop doing this after a while and you can get full service. It seems so weird.
I'm been listening to the Lithium channel and enjoying the music of my youth while I work.
