RECESS 09/26/09: RPG Submission Thread

NerdNYC's quarterly gaming event

Postby Pillar on Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:46 pm

We know is really early, but we just can't help ourselves.

We are now recruiting again for people to run RPGs at the next Recess ( 9/26/09 ).

There will be two time slots, the 1st (12pm-4pm) and 2nd (5:30pm-9:30pm) sessions. You can sign-up to run games in one or both slots.

If interested in running something, please send me (Pillar) the following information via PM, or post this information here:

    Your boardname

    The name of your game

    The game system

The minimum and maximum number of players for your game

1st Session or 2nd Session time slot preference, if any

Characters: State whether pre-gens will be provided, if players need to bring characters with them, or if characters will be created on-site

A paragraph description of the game to be used during signups

The deadline for submissions is now September 14th.

As always, player signups will occur the day of the event so as not to exclude anyone unfairly.

If you are unsure as to what game to run, but definitely want to run something, then by all means start a thread in the Recess section and gather input from our nerd base.

I will post the final schedule about a week before the day of Recess.

Your boardname: StompyMcD
The name of your game: Return to Roanoke
The game system: Savage Worlds
The minimum and maximum number of players for your game: 2-4 Players
Session time slot preference, if any: TBA
Characters: Pregens

On August 15th, 1590, John White returned to Roanoke Island on the 3rd birthday of his granddaughter, Virginia Dare. When he arrived, the buildings were dismantled, the colonists gone, and no clue as to where they went. They said no search was conducted for the survivors, and that John White's ship left the next day. In fact he left behind a small contingent in the camp, while he and the rest of his men searched the coastline, to the nearby Croatoan Island, telling the party to rendezvouz with them there. This is the tale of what they found in the new world, and what found them.

Your boardname – Osk, MinionOfCthulhu

The name of your game – Halloween Niut

The game system – Call Of Cthulhu (classic 1920’s)

4-6 players

1st Session preference

Characters: Pre-gens will be on hand but players are welcome to bring their personal 1920’s characters with them.

The Astrologers Collection arrives at the Miskatonic University Exhibit Museum, on loan from The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo. The collection is the contents of the modest tomb of Nife-en-Ankh, royal astrologer to king Kafra and devout worshiper of Nuit, Goddess of Stars and Night. On his sarcophagus is inscribed ““O my Mother Nuit, stretch yourself over me, that I may be placed among the imperishable stars which are in you, and that I may not die.” Did we mention it’s Halloween night? What could possibly go wrong…

Your boardname: Tav_Behemoth

The name of your game: Race through the Residuum Mine, ch. I & II

The game system: D&D 4E

The minimum and maximum number of players for your game: 4 to 7

1st Session or 2nd Session time slot preference, if any: Both slots. People who played a version of this adventure at the last Recess (jinglehopper/Greg's 4E game and my/Tavis's old-school Lego one) might just want to sign up for the afternoon session which continues the story - so that'd imply that it's OK just to sign up for the first part even if you can't continue it into the evening.

Characters: Pregen characters (7th level, new Forgotten Heroes classes)

Cinematic action! Cool props! Squeaky-voiced gnomes! Race through the Residuum Mine has it all, plus an extra helping of death. The morning session will be a tournament-style adventure, re-presenting the race to the bottom of an arcane mine that was playtested by Tav_Behemoth and Jinglehopper at the last Recess and polished to rollercoaster perfection by ten crowd-pleasing runs at Gen Con. The evening session will continue the story in a more open-ended mode, exploring themes and ideas for expanding the con game into a Master Dungeon long-form home play module. Players should have moderate levels of D&D experience so that we can move quickly enough to fit a lot of stuff into our eight hours..
I blog at The Mule Abides and play old-school D&D with New York Red Box.

Your boardname: jbuxom
The name of your game: Fortune's Fool

A missing child and a grieving father point the way to dark adventure in this new and original system by Pantheon Press!
