To the gameless I bring games. To the funless I bring fun. Those who welcome these gifts may live, but I will visit naught but death and eternal damnation on those who refuse them!

Red Box Basic D&D Seeks Rotating Gaggle of Casual Players

This is kind of an unusual set-up: our Red Box D&D Game presently has 6-7 players; I'd like a pool of about 15 total. Why so many players? The idea is that a game happens whenever 3-4 people want it to happen, and we probably need that many people in order to ensure that the game goes on. (Scheduling for 25% of 16 people is easier than 100% of 4.) Scheduling is handled via on-line forum.

* Location - In the past, we've played at Neutral Ground (15 West 37th in Manhattan) and 28 Cafe (5th & 28th in Manhattan). Game sessions typically last 2-3 hours.

* Day and time is rolling (see above). With a pool of 6 players, we've averaged about once a month - I'd like to get that to once every two weeks, but I'm not sure that's realistic. Basically, the game happens when enough people want it to happen - and if you miss one session, no big whoop: jump on the forum and schedule another one more convenient for you.

* You don't need any particular qualifications to be a player: this is the game nearly all of us started with - it's excellent for RPG newbies. We're cool with any age, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. BUT! We have to be able to stand sitting next to you for 2-3 hours at a time. That means, basically: be hygienic, polite, and reasonably sociable.

* We're playing Basic Dungeons & Dragons, using the Moldvay rules (published 1981), which are 99% identical to the Red Box Basic rules by Frank Mentzer (published 1983/1985). If you don't have a copy of the rules, don't worry about it--they're pretty easy.

* The basic campaign set-up can be found here Black Peaks.

* If you're interested, swing by the game's site and apply.

***This is an ongoing invite for the Red Box Meetup. Do Not Delete***

Play By Post Play Style

I have been a Game Master for decades. I am also a web developer so I implemented tabletop RPGing into a Forum type setting where people can play in a game without having to be limited by time zones or schedules. We try our best to cater for a friendly site where people do not insult each other and maintain a level of maturity everyone can enjoy.

* Your game's location: Online

* Day and time the game takes place: International with most players from US / Canada so it happens at your convenience

* What type of player(s) you are looking for: Mature minded, serious players who like to really develop their character

* What system(s) you are running: All kinds and can even help you with yours.

We create our own codes, scripts, graphics and storylines so it is all unique. What is more... there are no silly rants, hate talk or one dozen smilies and it is FREE! Everyone is mature enough to play their character in good writing style. If this is something that will interest you then visit: http://www.WorldofMedieval.com

DUNGEON WORLD and D&D 4E

I've been running a 4E campaign for a few sessions, and I'd love to get one or two more players for this campaign, and also some Dungeon World Sessions that I'm interested in running. I'm more interested in running Dungeon World, but I think the players want to run 4E for a bit longer.

The setting is in Eberron, and we have an Assassin, a Paladin, a Sorcerer, and an Artificer. I try to give everything as much of a pulp feel as I can. For example, The heroes Made a daring escape from a burning building, in an air ship powered by a mysterious entity, but have since crashed landed on a remote tropical island teeming with ancient forgotten evils, and hulking legendary beasts!

Right now I have four players (one lady, and three gentlemen) three of whom are my roommates, but I feel like having one or two more would be helpful, as I try to run the game each Sunday afternoon if 3 players can show up, and we'd be more likely to have enough players.
The game takes place at our house in LIC right by the Court Square / 23rd St. stop on the 7 E G M
*the location map thing seems to be down right now*

Most of us are artists, but you don't need to be. We'd love if you were narrative focused. Everyone loves a good combat, but character expression and interaction is the most important aspect. We're all around 30, and we'd be happy to have creative people of all ages join us. If a parent/child duo wanted to get involved, it could be possible, as I think Dungeon World is an ideal system for one's first RPG.

If you're looking to give Dungeon World a try, or you hunger for some thrilling pulp action, drop me a line.
If I get enough people interested in a Dungeon World game, I might end up running a reguar game, in addition to 4E

Game's Location: Montasy Comics, Manhattan (431 5th Ave, 2nd Floor)
Day and time the game takes place: Sunday from Noon(ish) to 6:00(ish) PM
What type of player(s) you are looking for: RPG experience is not the most important thing but it always helps. Creative Problem Solving is your biggest ally in this campaign
What system(s) you are running: Xcrawl (D&D 3.5 Variant)
Description of your game (setting, genre, etc.):
The Game:
In Xcrawl, you play extreme sports athletes participating in the world’s most dangerous sport. Collectively known as The Games, Xcrawl pits players versus a Dungeon Judge—or DJ—in a no holds barred battle of wits, steel and magic. Players have all the advantages of a normal adventuring party: weapons, armor, divine and arcane magic and special equipment. They face hideous creatures, brigades of well-trained humanoids, lethal traps and dangerous obstacles - all chosen by a Dungeon Judge attempting to keep his TV ratings high. The DJ is the mastermind behind the dungeon; the dungeon is a created environment designed to not only challenge the team of Crawlers, but kill them to the delight of fans both live at the event and watching around the world on pay-per-view. TV cameras capture every move, every spell, and every kill. Survival isn't enough; players compete for the best score against other teams facing similar challenges. The traditional classes and races are available to players, along with new equipment, spells and feats. The adventures are televised across the nation, and their exploits discussed in sports bars and at office water coolers.
The Fame: Xcrawl takes dungeon adventuring to the next level: massive mayhem and mass media come together for the first time in a no-holds-barred competition pitting adventurers versus the master of the game, head to head for the first time. Your players might become superstars, celebrity adventurers with publicists and lawyers who jet set all over the world—or they might join the pile of dead losers who litter the field. Xcrawl has no mercy for the foolish, the slow or the timid; if you die…you die.
The World: Xcrawl adventures begin in the North American Empire, or NAE, the most powerful nation on earth. The society is patterned after ancient Rome, and a clear caste system divides the populous. The majority of citizens are humans, with gnomes, halflings, dwarves and elves all being minority races living within the Empire's power structure. Citizens live in one of the major population centers—New York, Chicago, Atlanta or any of a number of other major cities. Humans band together for protection against dragons and other wild creatures; thus there are no suburbs or small towns - just large, defensible major cities and wild areas, ruled by savage monsters, aboriginal American tribes and mysterious outsiders. The technology level is comparable to the world outside your window, but without some of the more advanced achievements. There are automobiles, airplanes, firearms and television, but the planes are slower, the automobiles magically powered, and there is no digital television. There are computers, but they are not very powerful or versatile. There is no Internet. Medical technology lags behind everything else—the rich can afford divine healing, and the poor must hope and strive to stay healthy through any means.
The Look: Larger than life. Xcrawl is an extreme sport to its core, and players dress to stand out. Players display tattoos, cowboy hats, spandex, sports equipment, piercings, war paint, mohawks, masks, bondage gear, dreadlocks and even traditional sword and sorcerer outfits—whatever best fits their image; and that image is identified by a nickname: The Messenger, Sellsword, Masta Killa and Nick O'Time, to mention a few Xcrawl stars. In the world of Xcrawl, nonhumans show regional variants so you can play a Japanese dwarf, an African gnome, a Native American Elf or any other combination that pleases you.
The Mojo: The Mojo is the magic of teamwork. Xcrawl squads unconsciously draw upon this power, and it can give them an edge in combat. This power is represented by the Mojo Pool, an ever-changing resource allowing players to give bonuses to their teammate’s attack and skill rolls.
The Monsters: Man shares the world with horrifying lethal creatures. Humans fear the wild places, as ancient dragons and terrifying monsters prey on all those who dare to enter their territory. The Alfar, an evil offshoot race, dwell in vast underground cities planning their revenge on the hated surface world. Monster collectors hunt in the most remote locations of the world, searching for unique and dangerous creatures to fight in The Games. Players are certain to encounter old favorite monsters in an entirely new context, and might be surprised by a few new creatures as well.

Some friends and I are looking to start a Shadowrun game in the city. We've got 4 people so far, we're looking for 2 more. We don't know which edition we'll play or where/when we'll meet, since we haven't started yet. If you feel like joining us feel free to cast your votes for either. PM me if interested.
