GGG5: Changes? Suggestions?

Bi-monthly RPG Club

Postby jenskot on Tue Apr 11, 2006 10:19 am

For next season:

- What should we do differently?

- What games should we offer?

- When?

Let's not talk about: 1) changing the day from Friday, 2) one-shots, and 3) people's ideas for games they want to GM.

Everything else is fair game.

have a more regular bi-weekly schedule. I know you strive to schedule around cons and the like, but I think regularity is really essential to keeping the momentum of a game going. everything else is great.

Organize weekly carpools, going to queens and brooklyn. People could chip in for gas, tolls, parking stuff. Hell, I'd pay $5 for a ride home, as opposed to taking the train. I'm an old man, it makes me grumpy to stay up late.

I came in with my SUV and drove a few people home a session or two again. It was NICE! If a few of us with vehicles could take turns doing that it'd be sweet. Maybe I'm just lazy...okay, yeah, I'm lazy but it's still an idea.

the schedule was wonky. i blame religion. i did like last fall how we started with two weeks in a row, and then went to the bi-weekly.

also, GMs should commit to being there every week. the regularity and gathering is what makes GGG worth paying for.

i think we had a broad range this time and an excellent mix of play styles and genres. i feel that the GM descriptions for their games are still too specific. not sure how we can fix that though - some folks are going to play for the system, others are gonna play because they like the GM and their style.

- When?

i think we should start ASAP!

though i can settle for early september.

This isn't something that effected me but maybe a better way of collecting money? It seems like we're getting so large that it's getting tough for you to shake everyone down.

This is silly too but I feel like with the two rooms I don't get to know some of the newer folks on nerdnyc. Maybe we should do a little meet & greet like we did for the first one.

Frank has a good idea. Maybe each week we change which games are in which rooms. This way everyone gets to see/hang/meet everyone else. I know this would be good with my team as they are like 80% new board members looking to connect names to faces.

I must be drunk. I meant to agree with the person that said keep the schedule more regular to every other Friday.

Or maybe I just hate myself.

The scheduling was really awful. It made the game not as fun as it should have been because you have no idea what is going on after 3 weeks plus it makes people miss games more often so get your shit together. Also, I'm still not sure why we all had to give our money to jimb?
