It's a good point in the series for plenty of suffering! I suspect there will be plenty of fallout from episode 2 as well with mtiru taking center stage, it actualy probably couldn't work any better than that!

Great game! I think it was a great first session. Episode 1 was on fire!

Quick thoughts:

- I don't necessarily think every scene needs a conflict. If the conflict isn't obvious, I don't think we need to come up with one. Maybe just keep changing scenes till you hit a conflict? It may take less time to switch scenes or play them out than to force conflicts. So many scenes were practically exploding with conflicts that we almost had no choice but to go to the cards to resolve it. It's so natural but feels so right! Those scenes rocked. I think we shouldn't force, just drive things forward till things reach their own natural conflict.

- I'm really excited to see what kind of stakes we come up with for conflicts in future episodes. Phredd, please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like there is tremendous opportunity to set stakes from the perspective as you as a player vs. your character. You may set stakes that totally screw your own character but that you as a player think is awesome and would be fun to role-play or role-play the consequences. You may do this just to delay gratification till you get what you really want. Another possibility is role-playing stakes that involve elements outside the immediate characters. There is no reason stakes can't involve the police knocking the door down or some events completely outside the characters in play. I do think the more believable to the context of what is going on the better but there is a lot of room to play here. I'm excited to see what we come up with!

I think every scene is supposed to have a conflict... basically if we are floundering to find strong conflict in the scene, it's up to the producer (and the other players) to start throwing out some elements that can help us get there.

i'm with you. i definitely contributed some lame stakes this time - so i'll definitely work next time to step up. there is a way for our stakes to advance the plot and also throw the story and the next scene into a whole other direction.

ALSO - it seems like we've houseruled in the entire idea of a producer having stakes (like in With Great Power), because the book says "if the Producer wins, the protagonists don't get what they want."

Phredd having stakes in the conflict is so much better... because it steps up the incentive for us to win the scenes, and allows him to introduce elements that push the conflicts forward.
