Loved it. I am Scots though so take it with a pinch of salt.

Little Idiot Jnr and myself donned our kilts and descended upon Kips Bay yesterday with Mrs Idiot, James and Virago7.

Much has been said about the shift in tone in the second act on the reviews. Bollocks. If you didn't see that coming...

Kelly McDonald nailed Merida and the dialog throughout was on the nose (even though I doubt a 10th century princess would have uttered the phrase 'help ma boab' which is the catchphrase of Oor' Wullie). To think it was nearly Reese Whitherspoon's role???!!!

It is the most shattering experience of a young man's life when one morning he awakes and quite reasonably says to himself "I will never play the Dane."

I was planning to take my daughter, but my friend said it was a mom-and-daughter kind of film?

I wouldn't let that stop you from seeing it.

No, but one of us has to watch Boredoom Air if the other takes Boredoom Nano to the movies.... the question is - will it be Boredoom or Boredoom Pro?

I think Mrs Idiot would be a lot happier with the moniker Idiot Pro.

I liked it a lot, though it was the most straightforward/simplistic storyline Pixar has put out in a long time. The hero's journey is REAAAALLLY short.

I could have used a solid week of daughter/mother bear adventures. Making the curse fulfillment period only 2 days really cut short the believability of how much of a change the princess could really undergo. One fishing trip and she instantly bonds with her mother? While I like the fishing trip bonding experience joke, it would have been nice to see more of a building of mutual understanding between the two characters. Not enough adventures on the road.
