I agree with Gronti!

For regular Carcassonne, we use 3rd edition German farm scoring rules. Much better and simpler.

Summary here.

Carcassone might be good, but I don't like the farm rules. How does Citadels play like? ?

I purposefully listed "Carassone: Hunters + Gatherers" rather than the original version of Carcassone. I find H+G to be a better, more-balanced game with more visual appeal than its predecessor. Most people I play with agree with my assessment. I highly recommend this version over any other Carcassone. It's the one with the green box.

I agree with the gronti-nator.

What else should I get besides Carcassonne: S + G?

Well, what kind of games have you played that you liked? card-based games? resource-management games? strategy games? war games? how many players? how long to play?

Something easy to medium level of difficulty and fun. Most likely 2-6 players, ideally four. Personally, I like war and strategy games, but anything's okay. I really enjoy playing Settlers of Catan lately, especially when I beat Avocadosammich.

I really like Citadels. It plays well with a big group of peeps.

Torres is a great abstract strategy game for 2-4.

Coloretto is a great 3-5 player card game that is easy to learn but hard to master.

Puerto Rico is all the rave and the 2-4 card game variant, San Juan, is fantastic. I played about 6 games of San Juan at Gazeebo.

I also like Tigris and Euphrates but some people think it is too complicated. I really enjoy the strategy.

Some fun two player games are Balloon Cup, Lost Cities and Settlers: The Card Game.

The next games I want to try are Ticket to Ride (a train game) and Anno 1503 which is the next great strategy game from Klaus Teber of Settlers Fame.

I think we need a Parker Bros. Revival
No one plays the classics anymore, what I would give to play the game of Life or Monopoly, or even some Stratego.
::Sigh::

If we pretend that Parker Bros. are German and then change the name, would that make the games more appealing?

How about the Game of Liber by Parkstein Brüder

Or Süßigkeitland
How about a rousing game of Monopol

::Pout::
I want to play Rutschen und Strichleitern and Onkel wiggly

The Parker Bros. games are all owned by Hasbro. They own everything!!!! (except Barbie and Hotwheels) And I hate the way they license shit out. I had to play Peanuts edition of Monopoly and the other day I saw a Star Wars version of Life. Capitalism at its finest.

I played Monopoly about 3 weekends ago with my 15 year niece and her friend. It sucked big time. That game is all about the roll of the die. Its all luck, no strategy. So I usually find myself extremely bored, just roll the die, do some math.

Life is fun but they need to change the rule about buying a house. It serves nothing more than a money drain with no benefits. So they player who draws the Shack and has to shell out the least has a much better chance of winning. You get penalized big time for getting the Mansion.

I haven't played Stratego in a long, long time. I remembered that I really like that game. I would be willing to play on Friday night if someone brought it along.

I'm thinking, at this point, either Puerto Rico, San Juan, or Citadels. Can you tell me which one you would recommend and why? Thanks.
