IMO, GW's sealant works well, but like a lot of their stuff, is overpriced. Testor's Dullcote will give you a nice matte finish, for less money. Personally, I don't like a glossy finish on my models, I think it makes them look kind of fake. There's certain surfaces that look good glossy, like say, a monster's mouth, or something else you want to look like its glistening. For that, though, I find its best to use a paint on gloss varnish on the specific parts, while sealing the rest with matte.

Yeah I'm definitely looking for just a matte finish. I don't know why I've never considered just testing a product or two on a few minis I don't quite care about. My big concern was always ruining something I've put a lot of work into, but I've got a squad of Chronopia dudes from like the 8th grade that I've never used and doubt I ever will. Gonna pick up the Testor's Dullcote next time I'm out and will give it a shot. Thanks for the tips, guys!
