Greetings all,
My name is David and though I've visited your website more than a few times over the years, I'd never participated in any of the NerdNYC activities until World of Recess this past Saturday. I had the pleasure of playing BrickQuest with Foner and D&D 3E Hack: Dwarf Quest with JenSkot. Thanks to both of you and my fellow players for a good day of gaming.
I started gaming in 1980 with Holmes Basic D&D and went on to play a variety of Old School systems through the decade (1E AD&D, The Fantasy Trip, Gamma World, Top Sectet, Traveller, Toon, Villains & Vigilantes, Warhammer, etc.). By 1990, I called it quits due to a feeling that very few of the games I played really lived up to the potential I thought I saw in RPGs. Fast forward to 2007-2008 -- I GM four sessions of a fantasy campaign with newbie gamers using BESM. It doesn't last long, but manages to rekindle my dormant interest in RPGs. I spent a lot of time lurking on The Forge, ran a single Trollbabe session, drifted over to OSR sites, and read a lot of gaming manuals. When I took stock of my reading and idle theorizing I realized it was time to start meeting other gamers and start actually playing again.
I'd be interested in running a sandbox-and-megadungeon-style Tunnels & Trolls game, as well as playing in a variety of other systems. Off the top of my head, I'd really like to play The Shadow of Yesterday, Trollbabe, Encounter Critical, Dogs in the Vineyard, and maybe some BRP. I plan to post in Games Seeking Players soon regarding a T&T game, and to particpate in future NerdNYC events.
I live in Astoria, Queens, and work at 770 Broadway, not far from 440 Studios.
Thank you for doing what you do,
David M.
