NerdNYC Boardgame Night: Tuesday, March 6th

Nerds, Tables and Games

Postby Pillar on Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:37 pm

On TUESDAY, MARCH 6th, 7:00-11:00PM, NerdNYC will hold its next Boardgame Night.

Bring any game you want, enjoy the company of your fellow nerds and eat delicious foodstuffs!
ThinkCoffee also sports an excellent wine and beer bar!

We'll be meeting @:
THINKCOFFEE (Mercer Street)
248 Mercer Street
(between 3rd and 4th Streets)
New York, NY
here's a Google map.
just a few short blocks from the B, D, F, A, C, E, R, N, and 6 trains.

take the A, C, E to West 4th Street
take the B, D, F, or M train to Broadway/Lafayette
take the 6 train to Astor Place or Bleecker Street.
take the N, R to 8th Street

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ADMISSION is FREE!!!!*
*ThinkCoffee respectfully requests that you purchase something from their wide variety of drinks and vegan-friendly foodstuffs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please post if you are attending, and list the games you intend to bring so that people can get all excited!

NOTE: Table space at ThinkCoffee is always at something of a premium. We do the best we can, but it is probably better to avoid bringing games that require lots of table space, or ones that take more than 3 hours to finish. Save those games for other events like Recess!

NOTE: Like all of our events, no experience is necessary to participate. We ask that everyone who brings a game be ready to explain the rules to newcomers.

If you have questions, either post here or send a Private Message (PM) to Pillar.

GAME ON!

I keep saying that I can make it, only to have something come up (e.g. work, food poisoning) at the last second to cancel it.

So let's try something new. I have that evening free, but I will NOT be able to make it.

Hah, universe. What do you think of THAT?

In. And bringing Mrs Idiot. I'll be bringing Hive and Samurai I suspect.

This will be my first Board Game Night. If I bring a game will I still have a chance to play other games? All I know is that if I bring something people are unfamiliar with, I have to be available to explain how to play.

You can play other games, sure, assuming you don't decide to bring and run a game that takes all evening.

We typically have a little table where people place the games they brought, and whomever wants to can just select a game to play. In many cases the person that brought the game isn't necessarily playing it -- they are just letting others play it while they play something else. That being said, teaching a game you've brought to others who are unfamiliar with it is good form -- a game on the table that no one knows how to play isn't likely to get any play time.

Thanks! In that case, I'll be bringing Origin and Literati. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

This will be my first event, and I'm looking forward to it. I plan to bring Pandemic and 1313 Dead End Drive.

I've been working the late shift Friday nights for months so a Tuesday Night game night is great. I may very well be able to attend. Yay for me.

I need to see what my work hours are, but there's a possibility I can make this!
