[2 Day RECESS] January 15 & 16 @440 Studios!

NerdNYC's quarterly gaming event

Postby Warboss_Waaazag on Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:54 pm

I had a blast! Between mini painting lessons, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, and my Deathwatch game I was absolutely stoked. Thank you everybody for making this yet another awesome RECESS!

Also, thanks again everybody for taking all my nerd stuff from the Swap Table. I brought 9 boxes, a tucker tub, and a cartoon network backpack. I left with half a tucker tub of stuff. I actually feel richer that all my nerdstuff went to good and loving homes.

Affirmative. Death-Bot 9000 would rather avoid internet drama.

Thanks to everyone who organized this! My first time, first time running games at a convention, couldn't be more impressed by the level of organization & friendliness. Big thanks to Tavis for telling me about it, too. Had a great time!!

Some of the really good things that happened to me this Recess:

*Had a great bunch of players for Barbarians of Lemuria, who took what could have been a shaky experience and helped make it awesome.
*Had a really great bunch of players for Starships & Spacemen, who all seemed to grasp right away what I was trying to present and helped make it happen. I'm truly taken aback by how well this game was received, and will definitely be working with it some more.
*Finally got to play Villains &Vigilantes again thanks to Urbwar and join the select ranks of heroes who have stood up to Doctor Apocalypse and won.
*Dominated the trivia contest with Treebeard, even answering an asshole question. The pumpkin pie, so delish'.
*Dumped a lot of cool stuff on the swap table for others to enjoy, and in turn got a little bit of new cool stuff. A Deities & Demigods to finish off my AD&D corebook set, a Call of Cthulhu book (amusingly, every CoC book I own is a Swap Table find) and the Alternity core books (so now I can find out what James loves about the game so much).
*In the sign-up line Sunday, I rolled a 20 and got a prize.
*Pillar gave me a hug, as prize for having the longest game name on the sign-up sheet. No, really, Tektana can vouch for this.
Zongo!
I keep a gaming wiki, but I'm lazy about it.

I'm glad to read that playing V&V was one of the good things you experienced at this Recess! Not having run the game in well over 25 + years, I was pretty nervous about running it again (especially after the horrible work week I had due to the snowstorm). Both groups really made it fun. I've had those modules for so long, and never ran them before. It was good to finally do so. Now I just need to play in a game of BoL you run (if you chose to run it again), or even ZeFRS

I was about to tag a couple of those pictures. Then I realized the flaw in my plans.
