Recess was a... unicorn signing... dinosaur dancing... red panda high fiving... MEGA SUCCESS!!!

Thanks so much to Pillar, Jimb, badasswitch, and evilyn for organizing Recess!

Major shout out to Tekatana, mumblethrax, and BaronHelix for helping us run Recess! And Dragonbear82 for acquiring the gift certificates we gave away to people waiting at the back of the game signup lines.

I want to emphatically thank abzu, AD1066, at5115, bar_sinister, BaronHelix, bpm123, DarkRefuge, David Berg, Deliverator, delta, dorje, Dragonbear82, E.T.Smith, elricz, evil_evil_evil, Evilyn, faust, gaylord500, GrimGrim, Gundabad, Herzwesten, Iguanaonastick, Invincible Overlord, James_Nostack, jared a. sorensen, Joshua A.C. Newman, librisia, littleidiot, LRosetw8, lula, murasaki, nomopomo, Osk, MinionOfCthulhu, Pillar, pingstanton, plexar, PSRDNYC, Seraph, Seth, SkorDaTora, SurrenderMonkey, Tav_Behemoth, The Firebird, truegrit, urbwar, Warboss_Waaazag, zargonddg, Zehmyan, and zuk... for running games & events at Recess! Without you... there would be no Recess!

Thanks to 440 Studios for hosting Recess. I'd say that we made major improvements over last Recess but there were areas that we identified that needed improvement. Many out of our control and almost all minor but the Recess staff will meet in the near future to brainstorm how to make next Recess even better. People played games. People made friends. That's what NerdNYC is about... so I would say mission accomplished!

And finally I would love to thank all of you who attended, brought your enthusiasm and kick ass attitudes to Recess! In total we were 180 people strong! A new record! 150 people Saturday and 121 Sunday. Even more amazing we had 40+ new people to NerdNYC and many more new to Recess. Most of the new people heard about Recess from friends… so thank you for spreading the fun! It’s very much appreciated. We want to do it again soon!

Rock,
John

Another awesome Recess! Small World, V&V, and Caylus were great. But I finally got into Mouse Guard! And it was fantastic.

There was an amazing breadth of games. As evidenced by the guy behind me in line who, after I mentioned what games I was interested in playing, said "I don't mind that you're in front of me, because you're not going for any of the games I am."

A big thank you to Tavis and James et al for a great panel. A big thank to you all the GMs. A big thank you to all the organizers. And a big thank you to everyone for showing my dad a great time. He's a long time a gamer but hasn't had a chance to enjoy a con like this in a while. He went on and on about how friendly everyone was, and how well the con was put together. So thank you for showing him what NerdNYC is all about.

Out of the 180 people, 40-50 were new to Recess! And from what I heard and saw, many people exchanged contact information to get together in the future and play more games. That's our mission. We're a registered non profit whose main goal is to help people who live in NYC (or close by) play games and make friends. And that happened. I couldn't be happier.

I want to thank you guys. My buddy Dave and I, both of whom were newbies, had an absolute blast. It was fun, the people were nice and the overall experience was fantastic.

I'm looking forward to your next event and I would mind running something next time out.

More power to NerdNYC!
