Recess needs your talented skills to run games for our Back to Old School Recess on September 11th, 2010, in our new Manhattan location.

Sign up to run 4 hours of games and you get into Recess for free. Run 4 hours, play 5 hours free!

If you are interested in running, please submit your game by posting the following information in this thread:

1. Your Forum name:
2. Game system:
3. Minimum and maximum players (4 is the default minimum not including yourself):
4. A descriptive paragraph about the game (your elevator pitch):
5. Rating: "anyone", "18+", or "mature"
6. Mood: "serious", "silly", or "dark"
7. Slot: "1st (12-4pm)", "2nd (6:30-10:30pm)", or "Any"

To make Recess as accessible as possible, make sure your games do not run longer than 4 hours, does not require previous experience, rules are taught as needed, and supports at least 4 players (not including yourself).

The Deadline for Submissions is Saturday, August 28th, 11:59pm.

When deciding what games to run, please keep in mind this Recess' OPTIONAL theme... Back to Old School: A crash course in 1980’s!

Want to save Castle Greyskull from the boney clutches of Skeletor with a 20-sided die, go screaming into the galactic core via that purple Star Frontiers box, or seek out Lovecraftian horrors in the Mystery Machine with a pocketful of Scooby snacks? Of course you fucking do, and so do we!

This special edition of Recess will feature a role-playing game selection in loving tribute to the best games/toys/cartoons of the 1980’s, in addition to all of your favorite 21st century boardgames, card games and RPGs. No matter if you were born into a world of 8-track cassettes or downloading MP3s, Recess: BtOS will get your gamer senses tingling like the first time you scored a critical hit.

You can run any game, modern or classic, or modern games with classic characters and themes (for example, He-Man using D&D 4E).

About running games at Recess:
Game submissions are first come first serve. And we reserve the right to decline submissions.

GMs and Game Refs should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their game time to check in with the Recess staff and get their table assignment and player information.

Signups for games will occur at Recess on the day of the event. Currently we run sign-ups in two waves.

Would you like to run a game but you aren't sure what to run? Please take advantage of our Recess forum and start a thread to discuss your ideas and get feedback. Also, we've provided a Request thread where nerds can talk about games they'd love to play in! Maybe that'll spark some ideas? Check that out here... (coming soon).

The final schedule will be posted on the boards, about a week or so before Recess.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at recess@nerdnyc.com

Your Forum name: LittleIdiot
Game system: Classic Traveller
Minimum and maximum players (4 is the default minimum not including yourself): 4 - 6
A descriptive paragraph about the game (your elevator pitch):
The Annic Nova has arrived in your system after vanishing for 30 years. You and your team of marines have been sent to investigate this legendary space ship.
Classic Traveller from the late 70s. How much more retro can you go? None more retro... Unless you are Tavis.

Rating: "anyone"
Mood: "serious" until it isn't. I try to keep it serious but my roleplaying devolves in to bad comedy every time
Slot: "1st (12-4pm)"

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!

1. Your Forum name: Deliverator
2. Game system: The Riddle of Steel
3. Minimum and maximum players: 4 (this is both the minimum and the maximum, for obvious reasons).
4. A descriptive paragraph about the game (your elevator pitch): Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with realistic-yet-heroic-and-badass combat. Fight for your love of pizza, your hatred of Shredder, your loyalty to Splinter, or your sense of duty to the City.
5. Rating: anyone
6. Mood: only somewhat silly, actually—the nature of the Riddle is such that while fictional content of the game will be amusing, the fights themselves will be played straight.
7. Slot: Any

I clicked "Run RPGs" and wound up posting this under board games by mistake.

How will the crew escape the Hand of Sorrow? What dangers lie in their path? Come play to find out.
