Games can still happen just not at 440...

If there's any chance of a Sunday, Wednesday, or Thursday game night I'd totally be in.

It's really hard to find space that's easily accessible and open later. If anyone has a lead on non cramped, cheap or free space near subways please let us know!

Just came to find out what was going on, and was shocked to hear the announcement. But if all we need are six more people, then we should be able to find a few extra nerds somewhere in this wide web of NYC internet communities, right? With the blessings of the thread, I'll take the post to a couple of forums that I post on, and even possibly to http://www.reddit.com/r/nyc. I think we should really make a last ditch effort, either on the Facebook group or in the most recent newsletter before we cancel the event. Tekatana, would friday be the absolute deadline for reservations? Could we push everything over by a week and give it an extra week?

I have already reserved the rooms unfortunately. Pushing things back a couple of weeks would require 440 Studios to have open rooms at the same price readily available. We would not be guaranteed the ones I already reserved either. Also pushing the schedule back pushes us more into summer vacation territory so less people would be available then too.

I would rather not post about the GGG on any other sites other than this one and Facebook. The GGG's intent is to serve the NerdNYC community. If NerdNYC is not into the GGG this season then we'll wait till it is.

Scheduling the GGG is a delicate balance of a lot of factors. When one of the components is out of alignment the whole process sort of halts. It's happened before. I do not want to force this to happen. It has to be something people want to do.

We'll wait till Friday and see where we stand then I will make a decision.

We already had to raise the price this season. I would like to avoid raising it again. That said definitely invite any nerdnyc member who you know might be on the fence about joining up!

I am sort of curious why you can't approach the folks who are signed up and just present them with the money shortage, "We're $300 short. If this is somehow made up we can have our GGG, it could mean each of you kicking in $15 or two of you rich folks paying out $150 - have until the end of the weekend to sort it out amongst yourselves". It seems like this is something that could be put before the concerned parties, giving them a chance to solve it.

I feel very uncomfortable taking donations. I did that last time and i never want to do it again. Many of the GGG players are students and people struggling financially. I do not want to burden them further.

Tek, if this GGG doesn't launch, I promise to give you a hug.
(take that either as concerned consolation or threatened punishment.)

I'm sorry to see that more people have not yet signed up! The GGG is an amazing experience, and I will impatiently wait for the next one.

That being said, anyone have any good ideas on cheap/free gaming spaces? I'd hate to miss out on the awesome games for this season.

The Brooklyn Strategist has been working well for me (http://www.thebrooklynstrategist.com/). The cost is $10 per person for a four-hour session, with $25 monthly memberships available, plus three-month memberships allow you to bring two guests. Really, it comes out to about the same cost as 440 Studios, though the location might be out of the way for some.
