GGG Season 14 is COMING!

Bi-monthly RPG Club

Postby Tekatana on Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:42 pm

Hello NerdNYC! Your friendly Neighborhood Gotham Gaming Guildmaster here with a need for your opinion.

We have taken in some feedback and many of you have said the noise in the rooms can get distracting. In order to remedy this we are thinking of having 3 rooms available to play in with only 4 campaign groups going for the season. This would definitely increase the level of privacy (2 games would have their own room and the other 2 would share a larger room) but increase the cost by about $10.00 (raising the total for each player to pay to $50.00 for 5 sessions).

Keep in mind the amount of rooms does not increase the cost. Since when we have 5 groups we pay for larger rooms to house them. With 3 rooms in use 2 of them are very small. The increase in cost is from dropping 5 players from the GGG itself. Less people paying into the GGG means less people are laying out money to pay for it - even with NerdNYC's subsidizing of the event to keep the costs down.

Proposed GGG dates: September 23, October 7, October 21, November 4, and November 18

Is this something you would like to happen? Please vote!

EDIT: Poll Over! Thanks for your input, everyone!

I voted for the cheaper one cause it had more sessions. If there was an option for 5 sessions in quieter rooms, I might go for that. Quiet is worth some extra money but more sessions trump that :D

EDIT: wait does that mean the number of campaigns not the number of sessions?

Affirmative. Death-Bot 9000 would rather avoid internet drama.

Number of sessions is 5 in both cases.

Number of campaigns/groups is either 4 or 5.

EDIT: I changed the poll for clarity and made it so people can change their vote.

Would it be possible to rent some of those rolling sound barrier wall things? I am pretty sure I saw them there. Renting those, if available, might help with cutting down background noise.

I don't think they have them. I will ask anyway but when we asked for quieter rooms they said "you can use an unused room after 9 pm" in the past.

I would rather have a variety of games to choose from than less noisy rooms.

"you can use an unused room after 9 pm" in the past.

If this were done regularly and expeditiously it might help a lot -- that's 2 hours of quieter gaming starting when the game is juiciest. The changeover could happen during the usual midway break.
I would rather have a variety of games to choose from than less noisy rooms.

Me too, and I'd rather have a better chance of getting to run a game.
It might also be smart to lean towards louder games with strong visuals, like dungeon bashups or Mouse Guard with ridiculous voices and a blown up conflict sheet, rather than subtler, moodier fare.

Whatever everyone chooses, I'm just excited that a new GGG is coming!

Sigh. Can't vote because I'm not taking part. I've been wanting to GM something in GGG for a while now but friday is soccer night.

How inconsiderate of you.

I haven't run a GGG game in a while. Maybe I will GM a soccer game! Post apocalyptic soccer in the corpses of long lost civilizations with awesome outfits that Lady Gaga or David Bowie would approve!

I may even play your Lacuna song as background music (I listened to it again at the gym yesterday, makes for great... just 5 more minutes on the elliptical music).
