There are two important differences between the iPad and the iTouch and they make all the difference: screen size and applications. The screen size is what makes the iPad versions of the applications possible. iPad-specific apps are often much better than the iPhone/ipod touch versions. There is more room for interface, input and output. It really is a completely different experience.

Why would he have to do that? Ipads and iPod Touch read mp3's. It's not hard to convert anything into MP3's these days.
