A Noob Question From A Noob

This is the second time I've reposted this. The first time I was told it was on the wrong board, so then I put it with the introductions, but I have a feeling it's going to go unnoticed unless it becomes it's own topic...

Hey Everybody!

One of the major reasons I recently joined this site is because I've had a hankerin' to play D & D again (properly known back then as AD&D), something I haven't done since I was 19. I'm 36 now. Back in the day I played 1st ed. and 2nd ed. rules, and I think that's probably what I would be most comfortable playing, although I'm very open to suggestions for other RPG's.

Since I've recently gotten all nostalgic about it, I found a torrent and downloaded the entire 1st ed. collection of everything and started playing the original Red Box for shiggles. I even found myself trying to make the perfect template for character sheets on Excel. Needless to say my grasp of the rules is pretty rusty. I'm looking to ease my way back in. So my question is this: Where do I go from here? I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Have you tried the Player Search link amongst the navigation links at the top of your screen?

That page in turn links to Players Seeking Games.

I'm new here myself so maybe someone else has some better hunts.

Try New York Red Box, which is basically a spinoff of nerd. We do a lot of old school games (and a lot of new). We are a friendly group that welcomes new players, even if the site is kind of confusing. If you;d like to drop in, look at the threads for "Glantri" and "The White Sandbox" to try out one of the ongoing open-door campaigns, or "Icy Intermittent Gaming."
